What our students say about Omnilargess Digital Camera Bootcamp

Our last Digital Camera Bootcamp ended last Friday with night time photography field trip. It was an awesome class with many talented students. Nathan Veenstra is one of them. He is a very technical person and he discovered so many hidden features on his camera and learned how to use them and create awesome pictures. He sent me an email with some of the night shots. Since the photos are very very creative, I asked his permission to post his email and photos. Here is Nathan’s Facebook page if you want to see more of his new skills and talent. Enjoy and as always let me know if you have any questions.

Hi Ted,

Thanks again for taking the time to share your knowledge about photography. I can’t wait to get out and explore photography more now than ever, so many area’s I’d love to photograph, so many idea’s on taking family pictures. The basics you’ve given are hopefully going to prove to be invaluable to future photos. Here are some pics from yesterday.
1. PaintedStatue: This is by far my favourite shot from last night, only wish the Canadian flag was extended and clear. I think the composition is good (bordering are great), Even with the complexity of the background it still feels simple. I like the redder color as it shows the warmth Canadians offer. The story for this would be that this picture shows the hope that Canada can extend to the world. I would have loved to take this picture earlier in the evening to capture a deep blue sky and some clouds but then I think that would have made the picture busier and taken away from the statue.I’d also like to take the picture from the other angle highlighting the girl, something tells me I’d react differently to that picture.

2. Clearbrook Library: I don’t have nearly as much emotion wrapped up in this picture, there isn’t a natural story to it. If I could change anything I would like to draw out some more green of the front grass and hedge or maybe take the picture from 15 feet up.

3. You were right, taking the picture with the tree more centered looks better than it off to the right. If it ever snows 6. 8 or 10 inches I’d love to come back to the same spot and take a similar picture. My guess is I’d have to reduce the exposure time & have a higher aperture number to compensate for the extra light reflection from the white snow. Hopefully we get that snow this year.

4. Always wanted to take a picture like this, now I can. I cranked the saturation to exaggerate the colour of the lights. Can’t wait to try more shots like this.
Long exposure is the main subject in Omnilargess Digital Camera Bootcamp.

I want to thank Nathan again for theses amazing photos and wish him success in his journey for being a better photographer. Please check our UPCOMING CLASSES for more workshops.
