Create Spooky Photos Using Lightroom Techniques

Hey folks! I have been quiet for quite some time and haven’t written any posts. It was hectic here for a couple of weeks, and I have some amazing news to share with you shortly. For now, as we get closer to Halloween, I have decided to post simple Lightroom techniques that you can use for Halloween images.

Lightroom techniques are for making corrections and adding some odd effects to photos if you wish to do so. In this article, I will use the Lightroom Split Toning technique to create a Spooky Photo for this Halloween. Keep reading, and stay tuned for good news![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_custom_heading text=”Let’s Get Really Spooky Using Lightroom Techniques!” font_container=”tag:h2|font_size:35|text_align:left|color:%23001cad|line_height:1″ google_fonts=”font_family:Amarante%3Aregular|font_style:400%20regular%3A400%3Anormal” css_animation=”bounceInDown”][vc_column_text]Lightroom is the best photo organizer and one of the most powerful editing software in the market. You can organize digital pictures and almost all of the image corrections in one single program. This feature makes Lightroom a unique program. All of the Lightroom editing tools are located inside the Develop module, and Lightroom has many hidden gems as well, and Split Toning is one of them.

What is the Split Toning?

Split Toning is one of those Advanced Lightroom Techniques. In short, Split Toning allows you to assign different colour tones to Highlights and Shadows. This unique Lightroom technique can be used to remove the colour cast from highlights and or shadows. I used the Split Toning to add the different colours to highlights and shadows to this image. This little adjustment changed the whole photograph from boring to amazing![/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”21701″ img_size=”600×400″ add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_rounded” onclick=”link_image” css_animation=”slideInRight” title=”Original Photo”][vc_single_image image=”21698″ img_size=”600×400″ add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_rounded” onclick=”link_image” css_animation=”slideInRight” title=”Lightroom Techniques (Split Toning)”][vc_column_text]

Using Split Toning Step By Step

Here is an example of how I use Split Toning to add spooky colours to a photo.

1- I opened the photo in Lightroom and apply the basic Lightroom Techniques to make the improvement.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”21703″ img_size=”600×400″ add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_rounded” onclick=”link_image” css_animation=”slideInRight” title=”Original Photo”][vc_single_image image=”21704″ img_size=”600×400″ add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_rounded” onclick=”link_image” css_animation=”slideInRight” title=”Edited Photo”][vc_column_text]Then I opened the Split Toning tab and added dark Blue colour for Shadows and Light Orange colour for Highlights. Then I used the Balance Slider to mask how far the colours should apply. Here is the result and screenshots:[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”21705″ img_size=”600×200″ add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_rounded” onclick=”link_image” css_animation=”slideInRight” title=”Lightroom Techniques (Split Toning)”][vc_column_text]Here is the final job. Very easy and simple Lightroom Techniques for creative photographers.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”21706″ img_size=”600×400″ add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_rounded” onclick=”link_image” css_animation=”slideInRight” title=”Final Image”][vc_custom_heading text=”Let’s Get Really Spooky Using Photoshop and Lightroom Techniques!” font_container=”tag:h2|font_size:35|text_align:left|color:%23001cad|line_height:1″ google_fonts=”font_family:Amarante%3Aregular|font_style:400%20regular%3A400%3Anormal” css_animation=”bounceInDown”][vc_column_text]For the best result, it is better to use Photoshop and Lightroom Techniques together to create a more realistic image. In the image below, I used mixed Photoshop and Lightroom Techniques. I used Basic edit and Split Toning in Lightroom and then used several layers and adjustment layers in Photoshop. Let me know if you want me to post the step by step tutorial about these techniques.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”21724″ img_size=”600×400″ add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_rounded” onclick=”link_image” css_animation=”slideInRight” title=”Mixed Photoshop and Lightroom Techniques”][vc_column_text]I hope you enjoy using Lightroom Split Toning tool as much as I do.
