Vancouver Skyline at Night from Stanley Park
Many believe that opportunities for landscape photography end once the sun sets for the day. But for those who know the proper techniques, landscape photography opportunities are always present, regardless of the time.
That is why Ted and Brett would like to invite you to discover how to capture fantastic images during blue hour and beyond.
New York’s Central Park might be the most famous urban park in the world, but at 4 square kilometres, Vancouver’s Stanley Park is not only larger than Central Park but is arguably more beautiful. This crown jewel of a park sits at the west end of Vancouver’s downtown core and provides excellent photo opportunities of the city’s skyline and lights during the twilight hours.
We will cover such topics as:
- How to achieve correct exposure at night.
- Focusing your camera at night.
- Using a tripod to stabilize your camera and eliminate camera shake.
- Using your camera’s self-timer or an intervalometer to reduce camera shake.
- Capturing placid reflections off the water regardless of the conditions.
- Fine art light painting of the totem poles at Brockton Point.
- Creating light streaks using long exposure techniques on the Lion’s Gate Bridge.
- Post-processing techniques of your images in our Abbotsford studio the following week. (Don’t live near Abbotsford? No problem. We can conduct an online session for you so you can learn from the comfort of your own home via Zoom.)
