Natural Light Portrait Photography – Sneak Peek

A quick look at Natural Light Portrait Workshop

On Saturday April 22nd we had our first part of Natural Light Portrait Photography Workshop at Omnilargess Services office. It was a two-hour classroom session and I discussed various professional poses both for female and male models.

A big THANK YOU to our models

Andrea and Holly were our models for the day. Both of them are beautiful young ladies with no experience in modeling! Here I would like to thank both models for their help, enthusiasm and patience during the morning and afternoon classes.

Why I didn’t use professional models

Professional models are very familiar with poses and camera angles, thus it makes it easy for photographers to capture amazing photos. The focus of Natural Light Portrait Photography workshop is to challenge students and encourage them to apply their newly learned knowledge into practice. This is the best way of learning; therefore I used models that did not have any modeling background. It made the participants work harder to achieve the result. I am sure you all agree that this is the best way of learning professional portrait poses.

Not having professional models, participants had to deal with camera setting and posing the model .

Practical exercises and hands on make masters!

Afternoon session was all practice and hands on

In the afternoon we met at one of the Abbotsford parks (Fish Trap Creek Park) and students were divided in two groups with a model available for each group to exercise the practical poses. I explained how to take advantage of a light disk (reflector) as fill light, while discussing the settings on the camera and why one needs to shoot in manual exposure.
