Create Gorgeous Custom Valentine Card

Valentine Day is right around the corner and we all want to show our love and appreciation to our better half. Nothing shows your love better than a Custom Valentine Card. By making the Valentine card you show how much you care about them.

In this tutorial I am going to show how to design a custom Valentine card in Photoshop. The process takes about 20 to 30 minutes, and you will make something unique for someone unique!

Let’s get started[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_custom_heading text=”Designing Custom Valentine Card” font_container=”tag:h2|font_size:35|text_align:center|color:%23aa3300|line_height:1″ use_theme_fonts=”yes” css_animation=”fadeIn”][vc_column_text]In Photoshop Open a New Document and name it Valentine Card[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”20490″ img_size=”600×300″ add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_rounded” onclick=”link_image” css_animation=”slideInRight” title=”Designing Valentine Card”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Go to File and select PLACE EMBEDDED, select the photo that you want to use, and resize it.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”20491″ img_size=”600×300″ add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_rounded” onclick=”link_image” css_animation=”slideInRight” title=”Designing Valentine Card”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Add a new blank Layer, then go to Edit > Fill > and Select Pattern. In this example I used Colour Paper Pattern[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”20492″ img_size=”600×300″ add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_rounded” onclick=”link_image” css_animation=”slideInRight” title=”Designing Valentine Card”][vc_single_image image=”20493″ img_size=”400×400″][vc_single_image image=”20494″ img_size=”600×300″][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Select Shape tool from the tool bar, I selected Custom Shape > Heart for this project. And create a Shape.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”20495″ img_size=”400×400″ add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_rounded” onclick=”link_image” css_animation=”slideInRight” title=”Select Custom Shape Tool”][vc_single_image image=”20496″ img_size=”600×300″ title=”Create a Shape”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Select the Shape Layer and Pattern Layer And Make a group (By Holding Command key in Mac /Control Key in Windows and letter G), so both layers are in the Group.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”20497″ img_size=”400×400″ add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_rounded” onclick=”link_image” css_animation=”slideInRight”][vc_single_image image=”20498″ img_size=”400×400″ title=”Create a Group”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Go to Layer > Layer Style > and select Blending Option to open the Layer Style Window[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”20499″ img_size=”600×300″ add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_rounded” onclick=”link_image” css_animation=”slideInRight” title=”Layer Style Window”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]In Layer Style Window Locate the “Knockout” option > Click on drop down menu and select “Shallow[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”20500″ img_size=”600×300″ add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_rounded” onclick=”link_image” css_animation=”slideInRight” title=”Knockout Option”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Then reduce the “Fill Opacity” to your desire, you can make it 0, in this photo I liked it at 30%.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

Almost There!

You are almost there! Add other styles to enhance your custom Valentine Card. I used different styles for mine, I used Stroke with Gradient colour and Bevel and Emboss.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”20501″ img_size=”600×300″ add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_rounded” onclick=”link_image” css_animation=”slideInRight”][vc_single_image image=”20502″ img_size=”600×300″ add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_rounded” onclick=”link_image” css_animation=”slideInRight”][vc_column_text]Move the shape and/or the photo to match your design.

Add your text. Job Done![/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”20503″ img_size=”600×300″ add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_rounded” onclick=”link_image” css_animation=”slideInRight” title=”Moving and Resizing the Shape or photo”][vc_single_image image=”20504″ img_size=”600×300″ add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_rounded” onclick=”link_image” css_animation=”slideInRight” title=”Adding Text”][vc_single_image image=”20507″ img_size=”600×400″ add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_rounded” onclick=”link_image” css_animation=”slideInRight” title=”Finished Card”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_cta h2=”Omnilargess Photography Classes” h4=”Photography and Photoshop Classes” txt_align=”center” style=”outline” color=”black” add_button=”bottom” btn_title=”Find your workshop” btn_style=”outline” btn_color=”turquoise” btn_size=”lg” btn_align=”center” btn_i_type=”typicons” btn_i_icon_typicons=”typcn typcn-camera-outline” btn_css_animation=”bounceInDown” add_icon=”top” i_icon_fontawesome=”fa fa-graduation-cap” i_color=”black” i_background_style=”rounded” i_size=”xl” i_css_animation=”flipInY” css_animation=”fadeIn” btn_add_icon=”true” i_on_border=”true” btn_link=”url:http%3A%2F%2Fwww.omnilargess.com%2Fevents||target:%20_blank|”]I hope you enjoy making your custom Valentine Card.
