Optimum Landscape Photography Technique

Autumn is approaching, and Mother Nature is going to add so many colours into the landscape. Landscape photography is one of the most popular photography genres. However, many photographers may not be aware of an effortless technique that improves the pictures.

Many digital cameras record more details in shadows than highlights. Therefore, CLIPPING the highlights can happen quite often in Landscape Photography

How Does Clipping Highlights happen in Landscape Photography?

Clipping the highlights means that there were more details in highlights and the camera was not able to capture them. Here is an example:

[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”23378″ img_size=”600×400″ add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_rounded” onclick=”link_image” css_animation=”fadeIn” title=”Clipped Highlights”][vc_column_text]As you can soo in the above photo, there was lots of information on the sky, but the camera couldn’t capture it. Therefore, I took another shot and tried to capture the Highlights.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”23379″ img_size=”600×400″ add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_rounded” onclick=”link_image” css_animation=”fadeIn” title=”Capturing Highlights”][vc_column_text]The overall exposure looks dark. Therefore, Shadows Clipped the time. However, after a little post-processing in Lightroom, I could restore the data in shadows. Here is the edited version.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”23380″ img_size=”600×400″ add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_rounded” onclick=”link_image” css_animation=”fadeIn” title=”Edited Version”][vc_column_text]In the below picture, there is almost no information in the foreground (Shadow).[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”23381″ img_size=”600×400″ add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_rounded” onclick=”link_image” css_animation=”fadeIn” title=”Shooting for Highlights”][vc_column_text]Quick editing in Lightroom brought back the details in shadows.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”23376″ img_size=”600×400″ add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_rounded” onclick=”link_image” css_animation=”fadeIn” title=”Edited copy”][vc_column_text]
