POLARIZING FILTER

How useful is a Polarizing Filter?

There are a handful of filters in the market for digital photography. Previously, I discussed UV Filters. For this Monday #PhotoClue, I want to look into Polarizing Filter.

How a Polarizing Filter Works:

Without getting too technical, this filter blocks scattered light rays. Therefore, it creates sharper images.

Here is the definition of a polarizing filter by Oxford Dictionary:

“A photographic or optical filter that polarizes the light passing through it, used chiefly for reducing reflections and improving contrast. Two polarizing filters are often used together, such that rotation of one of them results in a neutral density filter of variable density.”[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”25476″ img_size=”600×600″ add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_rounded” onclick=”link_image” css_animation=”fadeIn” title=”Polarizing Filter”][vc_column_text]

Different Types of Polarizing Filters:

Generally speaking, there are two different types of Polarizing Filters, Linear and Circular.

For all Autofocus lenses, you must use the Circular Polarizing filters, as the Linear ones interrupt your lens’s autofocus function.

On the other note, a low-quality Polarizing Filter can cause unwanted Colour cast in pictures. So, invest your money wisely in good quality filters.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”18853″ img_size=”600×600″ add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_rounded” onclick=”link_image” css_animation=”fadeIn” title=”No Filter”][vc_single_image image=”18854″ img_size=”600×600″ add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_rounded” onclick=”link_image” css_animation=”fadeIn” title=”Polarizing Filter”][vc_column_text]
