Are You Tired Of Ordinary Photos? Use Long Exposure to Add Excitement!
We travel more in the summertime. And taking ordinary pictures is tedious. This summer, use long exposure skills to add a new dimension to your photographs.
Here are a few tips for long exposure:
.
1- Stability
Generally, in long exposure, the shutter speed is 1 sec. or longer. Therefore, your camera must be very steady. A lightweight yet strong tripod is a must to have for successful long-exposure photos.
Recently, I reviewed the Manfrotto BeFree tripod. Check it out.
.
2- Camera Settings
Manual exposure is the preferred setting for pro photographers.
You can also use the shutter priority. Set the shutter speed to your desired duration, and let your camera set the aperture. However, make sure that you are not over-exposing images. Check the camera’s built-in light meter and or exposure warning constantly.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”26764″ img_size=”400×500″ add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_rounded” onclick=”link_image” css_animation=”fadeIn” title=”Bright Day Light and Normal Exposure”][vc_single_image image=”26763″ img_size=”400×500″ add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_rounded” onclick=”link_image” css_animation=”fadeIn” title=”Long Exposure Using ND Filters”][vc_column_text]
3- What If It Is a Bright Day?
You have two options if it is a bright day:
a) Take photos at a later time of the day when it is not so bright!
b) Using ND Filters. Stay tuned! This week review is all about ND Filters
.
4- Take Camera Stability to the Next Level!
Using a wireless or wired shutter release helps you keeping your camera shake-free. If you don’t have a shutter release handy, use the camera self-timer. It ensures that you do not shake the camera while triggering the shutter.

I cover many more techniques in Bootcamp Program.
.
Beginners Photography Bootcamp is a six-week program and includes six classroom sessions and two field trips. Practical exercises and the small class size make it the best camera workshop.
The next Bootcamp starts on September 16, 2021.
