Renaming Photos in Lightroom Tips
Renaming photos in Lightroom is another great way to organize your pictures.
One of the searchable criteria in Lightroom is the Text-based search. The searchable texts are Keywords and File Names.
I recommend adding keywords to all the images. However, it is sometimes hard to do, especially when there are many pictures without keywords.
Therefore, Renaming photos in Lightroom makes it easier to search for images.

Two Ways for Renaming Photos in Lightroom:
The camera-generated file name is useless to me. I’d instead prefer to have meaningful file names.
DISCLAIMER: When you rename photos in Lightroom, Lightroom changes the file names wherever they are stored.
Now, let’s look into renaming photos:
Method 1: You can rename photos while importing them to Lightroom. It is pretty straightforward. However, it would be best if you remembered to rename the new files every time you import a new batch.
What if You Already Have a Bunch of Images that You Want to Rename?
Method 2: This method is excellent if you already have many photos in Lightroom with camera-generated names.
Adobe made it very easy to rename photos in Lightroom. 1- Select images that you want to rename.
2- Click the LIBRARY on the top menu bar.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”26312″ img_size=”400×600″ add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_rounded” onclick=”link_image” css_animation=”fadeIn” title=”Renaming Photos in Lightroom”][vc_column_text]3- Select the “Rename Photo…” from the drop-down menu.
4- Select the custom text, and type the new name for photos.
Good job. You renamed photos to something more meaningful than a camera-generated file name!
