Using Lightroom Crop Tool to Fix Imperfect Compositions

Composition plays a significant role in photography. Lightroom Crop tool helps photographers correcting or modifying their design and create dynamic compositions without affecting the original photos.

.

For instance, in landscape photography, the Horizon should be straight. Lightroom Crop tool allows you to straighten the Horizon.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”26655″ img_size=”600×400″ add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_rounded” onclick=”link_image” css_animation=”fadeIn” title=”Using Lightroom Crop Tool”][vc_column_text]The other day, I was walking to work and saw a beautiful butterfly. There was no time for me to grab my camera, so I reached for my smartphone and hastily took a shot.
.
As I was expecting, the composition was anything but perfect! Thanks to the Lightroom Crop tool, I could fix the image.

Here are a couple of tips for cropping a photo in Lightroom.

Lightroom Crop Tool Tips:

Tip Number 1: Lock the Aspect Ratio

If you need a particular look for your photo, for instance, a square format, lock the aspect ratio.

.

By unlocking the Padlock, you can do free-hand cropping. This feature is beneficial when there are not any requirements.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”26654″ img_size=”600×400″ add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_rounded” onclick=”link_image” css_animation=”fadeIn” title=”Using Lightroom Crop Tool: Free-hand”][vc_column_text]Tip Number 2: Adjusting the Horizon

The Crop tool offers Auto straightening. However, in some pictures, the auto tool does not work correctly.

.

You adjust the Horizon Manually by using the LEVEL tool or going to the corner of the photo and rotating the image.

.

Tip 3: Changing Crop Orientation

While in the Crop tool, you can change the crop orientation by pressing the letter X on your keyboard.

.

That is all for now.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”10280″ img_size=”600×400″ add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_rounded” onclick=”link_image” css_animation=”fadeIn” title=”Using Lightroom Crop Tool: Adjusting the Horizon”][vc_column_text]
