Ted’s Photo Gear Review: GORILLAPOD

Gorillapod, a Versatile Tripod

A bulky and heavy tripod is a pain in the neck, especially for outdoor activities. Gorillapod by Joby offers a small and versatile tripod.

For this week’s #TedPhotoGearReview, I look into Gorillapod 3K mini tripod.

I purchased my Gorillapod a few years ago, and since then, it is always in my camera bag. The small size and lightweight make Gorillapod easy to pack in almost any camera bag or even in your pocket![/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”26801″ img_size=”400×400″ add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_rounded” onclick=”link_image” css_animation=”fadeIn” title=”Gorillapod 3K”][vc_column_text]You can use this tripod as a small tripod or a selfie stick! Check the photos below:[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”26797″ img_size=”400×400″ add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_rounded” onclick=”link_image” css_animation=”fadeIn” title=”Using Gorillapod as a Tripod”][vc_single_image image=”26802″ img_size=”400×400″ add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_rounded” onclick=”link_image” css_animation=”fadeIn” title=”Using Gorillapod as a selfie stick”][vc_column_text]There are times that you want to take photos from different and unusual angles. Thanks to the flexibility of Gorillapod, you can wrap it around almost anything steadily to capture the composition that you like.

The Gorillapod 3K is strong enough to hold the weight of your camera for up to 3kg. The flexible and bendable legs allow you to use this tripod on uneven surfaces or wrap the legs around a post or tree. I wrapped it around the door handle in the image below, and it holds the camera steady.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”26793″ img_size=”400×400″ add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_rounded” onclick=”link_image” css_animation=”fadeIn” title=”Wrapping Around”][vc_column_text]I found out that I use my Gorillapod more often in Macro photography. I wrapped it around a post to take a few macro pictures of bugs in the image below. I usually use a shutter trigger or self-timer to take pictures when capturing macro images to avoid camera shake.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”26795″ img_size=”400×400″ add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_rounded” onclick=”link_image” css_animation=”fadeIn” title=”In Macro Photography”][vc_column_text]By adding a smartphone holder, your Gorillapod will be an asset for your smartphone photography or videography. I used my smartphone to take videos in the images below.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”26799″ img_size=”400×400″ add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_rounded” onclick=”link_image” css_animation=”fadeIn” title=”Smartphone Photography and Gorillapod”][vc_single_image image=”26800″ img_size=”400×400″ add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_rounded” onclick=”link_image” css_animation=”fadeIn” title=”Smartphone Videography”][vc_column_text]
