Upscaling photos in Photoshop CC is another Hidden Gem!

Upscaling means that you resize a photo to a larger size image than the original. In older versions of Photoshop it was possible to upscale a photo, but the software couldn’t provide a very clean and neat larger image. Other plugins such as Genuine Fractals  were often a more popular choice to up-sample images in Photoshop.

Upscaling photos in Photoshop CC is one of the best new features that Adobe has added to the new Photoshop CC and CS6. It makes resizing very simple and accurate. Here is how I do it and I have been very happy with the results.

1- Open photo in Photoshop and go to IMAGE>IMAGE SIZE. Select the PERCENT from the drop down menu.

 

2- In this example I selected 300% which means the final size will be 3 times larger than the original photo

 

 

3- Adjust the NOISE REDUCTION slider to reduce the artifacts. Job is done!

 

 

Upscaling photos in Photoshop cannot get any easier than this and is another one of those Photoshop Hidden Gems.
