Vancouver Island Photography Tour
A 3 in 1 Photography Tour
Omnilargess Photography Classes and Brett Michaud Photography wish to invite you to explore and photograph British Columbia, Canada’s wild west coast of Vancouver Island.
Discover the Majestic Vancouver Island Through Your Camera’s Lens
The west coast of Vancouver Island has one of the world’s seven temperate rain forests. We will be winding our way through old-growth forests on our way to several beaches that boast cascading waterfalls, slot canyons, enormous surf-worthy waves, black sand beaches and an abundance of sea life. And don’t forget to keep an eye on the horizon in case a pod of orca whales on the hunt for sea lions makes an appearance.
Three Workshops, One Tour
Vancouver Island Photography Tour is a comprehensive seminar for landscape photographers. It includes daytime landscape, Golden-hour, and night photography techniques all in one impressive journey.
You can complete your achievement by adding the post-processing workshop to your registration.
This day-long tour will depart from Victoria, BC, on April 9, 2022.
We meet at the Swartz Bay Ferry Terminal at 7:30 am, drive north, up the west coast of Vancouver Island.
Our first stop is Sombrio Beach, just south of the small fishing village of Port Renfrew, where a narrow slot canyon with moss green, lichen-covered walls have been carved out of the sandstone cliff by a waterfall over the last several thousand years.
After lunch at Shirley Delicious in Shirley, BC, we will visit Sandcut Beach, where your guides will teach you the techniques of using fast apertures and neutral density filters. These techniques allow the photographer to slow the camera’s shutter speed and create the ethereal, wispy waterfall look so coveted by lovers of photographic art.
After dinner, as the sun sets and the stars come out, we will explore different techniques to bring out the most of golden hour, blue hour and finally, night photography. Creating sun stars, dealing with lens flare, light painting, and lighting techniques to control the mood and feel of your subject after dark are but a few of the topics we can explore.
Rest easy as your hosts Ted Karlsalr of Omnilargess Photography and Brett Michaud take care of all the details, from transportation to meals, to guidance through some of the world’s most photogenic coastlines. You needn’t worry about a thing. Your only job is to have a fantastic time, take in the scenery and capture all its beauty on your camera.
Landscape images straight from the camera need unique post-processing treatments to look their best. To complete the fun of the Vancouver Island Photography Tour, we invite you to our studio for a walk-through of special post-processing techniques. This editing session covers global and local adjustment skills to convert your pictures to fine art. Let your teachers impart their knowledge and skills in post-processing to help you unleash the full potential of your Vancouver Island images.
