Exposure Setting

Simple Exposure Setting Tip Using Auto ISO

Generally speaking, photographers do not like to use high ISO. However, they need to maintain the exposure setting, and for achieving the correct exposure setting, they need to change things around.

Description of Exposure Setting

Exposure Setting or Exposure Value (EV) is a term that describes the setting of shutter speed, aperture, and the ISO for capturing the right amount of light in photography or videography. Therefore, for shooting a correct exposure, a photographer needs to set these three parameters correctly.

When camera manufacturers introduced the Auto ISO, many photographers did not want to use it and let the camera select the ISO. One of the greatest fear of photographers was what if the camera sets the ISO too high unnecessary. However, with the new cameras and their advanced algorithm, even pro photographers use the auto ISO in certain conditions.

Tip on using Auto ISO

Under the challenging light conditions, where quickly changing exposure setting is next to impossible, such as Sports photography, Auto ISO is a life-saver.

Tip on not using Auto ISO

However, there are times that you absolutely must avoid the Auto ISO. For instance, when capturing a higher dynamic range is required, such as Landscape photography.
