LENS FILTER - Omnilargess Photography Classes

Photography Tutorials and Articles

How useful is a Lens Filter?

Lens Filter is a popular question, and many new photographers want to know if there are any benefits to using the Lens Filters.

For this Monday #PhotoClue, I want to start a series of articles to cover various Lens Filters and their advantages for photography.

Generally speaking, it is not a good idea to add anything in front of your lens. However, some filters, such as UV filter, provide adequate protection for your lens. And that is the only benefit of UV Lens Filter, making it the most popular in the market.

Does UV Filter improve image quality?

Although manufacturers and retail stores claim that the UV Filter enhances images, UV Filter does not have any noticeable effect on picture quality. However, as an added protective layer, they can protect your lenses from smudges, scratches and some severe damages. Therefore, the only reason for using a UV filter is to protect your precious lenses from damages.

On the other note, the quality of UV Filter is crucial. You don’t want to sacrifice the sharpness of your pictures. In the article below, I discussed it thoroughly.
