Exposure Photography Class

A Full Day Photography Class in Exposure

Our June 23rd Full Day Photography Class is sold out for sometime, and I didn’t have time to schedule another one. Light plays the main rule in photography. Unlike our eyes, cameras can not take constant light for capturing the picture, they need certain amount of light. If the amount of light is too much, your image would be washed out (Over Exposed Photo). And if there is not enough light, you will end up with a dark photo (Under Exposed Image).

Full day Photography Class is all about the exposure, how to set it and how you can be sure that you use the correct Exposure Value (EV) by using camera’s built in light meter.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”21027″ img_size=”600×400″ add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_rounded” onclick=”link_image” css_animation=”slideInRight” title=”One day Photography Class Field Photography”][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row][vc_column][vc_custom_heading text=”Many Rules of Light in Photography” font_container=”tag:h2|font_size:35|text_align:left|color:%23aa3300|line_height:1″ use_theme_fonts=”yes” css_animation=”fadeIn”][vc_column_text]There are two main rules for Light in Photography, the amount of Light (Exposure), and the direction of Light. Both are equally important. Exposure can be controlled by Shutter Speed, Aperture, and ISO, which will be discussed in details in the Full Day Photography Class. The Direction of Light is mainly considered as composition rule, but to me it is as crucial as exposure to make a perfect picture. I cover the Light Direction in our Photography Bootcamp workshop in details.

Light Direction or Shadow Direction?

Light creates the shadow. As a photographer (or any visual artist), we all understand the importance of shadows. We can use shadows as our Guide Lines, we can use the shadows as a Framing, and also Shadows can be used to create the simple background or foreground.

I took some photos from the same spot (Mill Lake Park) in the morning and in the afternoon, to show how the direction of light can change the look of a scenery. Although exposure is correct in all the images, you notice that these photos look different. That is all because of the Light direction.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”21031″ img_size=”600×400″ add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_rounded” onclick=”link_image” css_animation=”slideInRight” title=”Parking Lot in the morning”][vc_single_image image=”21032″ img_size=”600×400″ add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_rounded” onclick=”link_image” css_animation=”slideInRight” title=”Parking Lot in the Afternoon”][vc_single_image image=”21033″ img_size=”600×400″ add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_rounded” onclick=”link_image” css_animation=”slideInRight” title=”Boardwalk in the Morning”][vc_single_image image=”21034″ img_size=”600×400″ add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_rounded” onclick=”link_image” css_animation=”slideInRight” title=”Boardwalk in the Afternoon”][vc_column_text]That is all for now.
