Photographing Christmas Party Tips
Ok we are very close to Christmas and Photographing Christmas party is one of our priorities. I have received many questions asking for tips on how taking better Christmas party photos. I categorized them in to different topics to make it easier for remembering them. These tips applied to DSLR and Mirrorless cameras, although some of the Point and Shoot cameras may have if not all but some of these controls.
To Use the Flash, or not to? That is the question!
All entry level cameras come with some sort of Pop-up flashes. These built in flashes are pretty much useless, unless you use them as fill light or to trigger another flash off-camera.
For indoor photography these built in flashes easily ruin the photos by making the foreground too bright, causing Red-eye, creating harsh shadows and highlights. So if you only have the popup flash, just ignore it and do not use it.

Limited Auto ISO
All DSLRs and Mirrorless cameras have the Auto ISO Setting. In Auto ISO camera uses the lowest possible ISO to capture the image. That is very good so far, but very high ISO can result very grainy images. To avoid very grainy photos you need to set up a limitation for Auto ISO. Refer to User Instruction Manual for learning how to set the limitation.
