Technical Aspects in Portrait Photography Tips

In previous article I divided Portrait Photography Tips into two categories, Technical Aspect and Artistic Approach. In this article I am going to focus on Technical Aspects of Portrait Photography. We can divide the technical aspects into three parts, Camera Settings, Lens Selection, and Light. Therefore the camera should be set to certain settings to be able to capture the important features that describe the subject the best. To match the camera settings and the subject’s personality, you need to answer some questions first:

Questions which help making camera settings

-Is it a moving subject? Is the moving the main part of the subject’s personality? (Such as a Hockey player while playing)

-Do you want to add moving blurred to show the movement, or freezing the action? (Such as a basketball player while spinning the ball)

-Does the background help to showcase the personality of the subject? (Such as a farmer standing by the farm machinery)

-Does the background create distraction?

These are just few examples and there are many more that I will teach them in Portrait Photography Workshop. By answering the above questions, photographer can make the decision for camera settings.
