Quick Camera Tips: Pro Lens

For this Monday Quick Camera Tips, I picked Pro Lenses to discuss. I always received questions about pro vs consumer lenses. Other than higher price points, pro lenses offer more features that are very important for pro photographers.

What Makes a Pro Lens

In this article, I explain a few key elements that make a Pro Lens.

Why are Pro Lenses more costly?

It is a legit question. Generally speaking, Pro Lenses are way more expensive than consumer lenses. But why is that?

Let’s dive into the discussion.

For this Monday Photo Clue, I look at some features that Pro lenses have.

Pro Lenses are Weather Sealed

Almost all Pro lenses are weather sealed. Therefore, they are dust and moisture resistant. Consequently, it is more costly to make the lenses weatherproof. However, it is an essential quality, especially for outdoor photographers.

Pro Lens Design and Material

Manufacturers use higher quality materials for pro lenses; everything from the casing material to the optics has a finner quality.

The design of a pro lens is more complicated than consumer lenses. It needs extensive trials and testing. That is why it takes longer to design and develop a pro lens.

I wrote a complete article on how to decipher the lens codes and numbers
