Ted’s Photo Gear Review: A New Section

Many sites review photography gears, some even in-depth and technical. However, there are increasing demands for easy-to-understand reviews. I have received many of those requests, and finally, I decided to add a new section to my daily posts.

In this new section, I review one item per week. These items range from lens filters to camera bodies. These reviews will be short, easy-to-understand and always on point.

Without further ado, Let’s get into my first review.

Photo Gear Review: Manfrotto BeFree Tripod

Manfrotto BeFree Tripod comes with a nice carrying case.

Tripod is one of those gears that photographers love and hate at the same time. We love tripods as they keep our cameras steady for long exposure pictures. And we hate them because they are heavy and take space to carry around!

Manfrotto is an Italian manufacturer, and Italian designers developed the perfect design to address the cumbersome issue. Here are some highlights:

1- BeFree is small and light-weighted, yet steady enough for an 8kg (about 17.5lb) load. It weighs only 1.6kg and measures 40cm folded.

Manfrotto BeFree weighs 1.6 kg and the folded length is 40cm only!

2- The lock mechanism and the quick release plate function smoothly, which shows the quality of materials and design. I liked how effortlessly I unfolded the tripod and mounted my camera.

The locking mechanism is quick and smooth

3- The Manfrotto ball head that comes in the kit is ideal for all beginner to intermediate photographers who want maximum performance and stability at all times – it is smooth and quick to adjust.
4- The quick release plate stays secure and locked in its place, which is a piece of mind.

Manfrotto ball head and the quick release plate are very smooth and secure.

BeFree is an excellent medium-range tripod for travelling and active photography. Lightweight and small size make this tripod a trusty companion. I give this tripod a five-star rating for quality, manufacturing, ease of use, and stability.

It may look a bit pricy, but it is an excellent investment.  At the time of this article, LondonDrugs carries this tripod in stock, and it is on sale now.

That is all for this #TedPhotoGearReview. Follow us for more reviews. Contact me if you have more questions about this tripod.
