Wednesday Photography Tips: AUTO ISO

Taking Auto ISO to the Next Level

Auto ISO allows your camera to change the ISO to achieve the correct exposure.

When manufacturers introduced Auto ISO a few years ago, many photographers didn’t like leaving it to the camera to set the ISO. And I would say they were right!…to a degree.

Almost all new Digital cameras have an Auto ISO setting.

Is AUTO ISO Convenient?

Photographers like to shoot at the lowest possible ISO. However, there are times that you need to increase the ISO to maintain the correct exposure.

For instance, if you shoot indoors and need to use a faster shutter speed, all you can do to keep the exposure right is increase the ISO. And when you get outdoors with plenty of light, you may want to reduce the ISO.

In these scenarios, using Auto ISO provides peace of mind as the Auto ISO delivers the minimum required ISO automatically.
