Using Back Button Focusing
.
Generally, photographers use the shutter release button to activate the Autofocus in cameras. However, there is another more efficient option available in most digital cameras; it is Back Button Focusing.
.
What is Back Button Focusing?
Most digital cameras have a button at the back, usually marked as AF or AE/AF. You can activate it through the camera’s menu. Then instead of using the shutter release button for focusing, you can use the back button to start the Autofocus.

Benefits of using the Back-Button.
While using the shutter release button for autofocusing, there is a chance that you press it longer and take random photos. Using the back button prevents these types of pictures. However, this is not the only benefit.
Here are a few more:
Continually focusing on your subject is another advantage of back button focusing, whereas using the shutter release button temporarily disconnects the focusing while taking photos.
When using Image Stabilized lenses or sensors, the shutter release button activates both autofocusing and image stabilizer at the same time. The image stabilizing system drains the battery faster. Therefore, by using the back button, you can save lots of battery charge.

There are many more advanced features in your digital camera
Omnilargess Photography workshops focus on many hidden features in digital cameras.
I dedicate a good portion of our digital camera workshops to discuss the digital camera’s layout and menu. Digital Photography Bootcamp is one of our most popular photography courses. It is a six-week photography program for beginners and intermediates.
