Expand Your Digital Camera Dynamic Range

.

This Friday, I want to discuss the topic of Digital Camera Dynamic range and how the lack of dynamic range can affect photos. The good news is that we will have a workshop on June 5 that you can learn how to expand your camera dynamic range.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”21746″ img_size=”600×400″ add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_rounded” onclick=”link_image” css_animation=”fadeIn” title=”Digital Camera Dynamic range”][vc_column_text]

What is Digital Camera Dynamic Range?

In photography, the dynamic range is the difference between the darkest and lightest tones in an image, generally pure black and pure white. Digital cameras do not have the dynamic range as human eyes have. So, photographers need to use skills to expand the digital camera dynamic range.

One of these skills is shooting in Raw format. Raw format increases camera dynamic range quite a bit.

Another way to expand the camera dynamic range is learning new skills on exposure metering mode. Therefore, understanding the Zone System allows you to shoot images and maintain exposure for most of the picture.

Chasing Shadows is a five-part photography class. It covers all the techniques that a photographer needs to know to expand the camera dynamic range. These skills discuss tools to set the correct exposure and editing workflow using Ansel Adams’ Zone System.

.

The Chasing Shadows program starts on June 5, 2021[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]

Omnilargess Photography workshops focus on many hidden features in digital cameras and editing software, such as Lightroom and Photoshop.

I dedicate a good portion of our digital camera workshops and Editing classes to discuss the Histogram. Digital Photography Bootcamp is one of our most popular photography courses, and I explain the Histogram in depth in this class. Check the link below for upcoming classes.
