[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

Review on Colour Checker Passport by X-Rite

Creating the correct colour is essential in digital photography as each camera manufacturer uses a different method for colour rendering.

You can use any grey card in the market to set the white balance. However, the precision of the grey card is crucial.

I have used several different tools, and they all work relatively well. Some things separate Color Checker Passport by X-Rite different from the rest. Here are some of the highlights.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”26845″ img_size=”600×300″ add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_rounded” onclick=”link_image” css_animation=”fadeIn” title=”Color Checker Passport”][vc_column_text]

How to Set the Correct Colour in Pictures

There are two techniques for creating the correct colour,

1– Using Raw format and doing post-processing to render the right colours.

2– Adjusting the White Balance while taking photos. It is the best practice and saves you lots of time in post-processing.

Summary:

Size and design

It is minimal in size, precisely the size of a Passport. It has a nice and solid cover.

Accuracy

You can trust the accuracy of colours, as Pantone designs it and hand calibrated it.

Ease of Use

Some many informative videos and tutorials walk you through all the different steps.

Performance

Color Checker Passport can help you while taking photos by adjusting the Custom White Balance or use it in post-processing in any editing software such as Adobe Lightroom, Adobe Photoshop, Capture One, to name a few. The X-Rite videos show you how to use its software with Lightroom, but you can apply the same steps for almost all the other software as well. The only part that works only with Lightroom is Profiling.

Conclusion:

I highly recommend the Color Checker Passport by X-Rite to professional photographers. It is a bit expensive, but the most accurate one.

I have used several different tools before, but Color Checker is the most correct one.
