Portrait Photography Workshop Using Flash (Outdoor and Indoor technique)
Flash Photography is completely different from constant light photography. The extra techniques which are required when using flash in portrait photography will be discussed in this workshop.
Part 1 Classroom Session:
April 29th 10 am
In this two hour classroom session we discuss the technical differences between flash and constant light, camera setups for flash as the main light source or as fill light, on-camera and off-camera flash, TTL and Manual flash techniques, uses of first curtain and second curtain in slow shutter synch, flash modifiers, the differences between posing female and male subjects and much more.
Part 2 Field Photography and Hands on:
April 29th 2 pm
In this session students will be divided into smaller groups of three photographers and each group will have a model to work with. Your instructor will assist with setting up on-camera or off- camera flash, metering the ambient light and how to use your flash as fill or main light. We’ll also try out some ideas for setups for indoor as well as outdoor flash photography.
List of equipment you will need for this workshop:
A camera with manual control (Such as DSLR or Mirror-less camera), a lens with minimum 50mm focal length (please contact us if you have questions regarding your camera and/or lenses), a fully charged battery, memory card, a flash unit with extra batteries because you are going to shoot many pictures…and bring lots of questions! If you own any kind of wireless triggers, flash modifiers and reflectors please bring them with you. We are going to supply some wireless triggers, reflectors and modifiers but it is always good to have more!
We suggest to register for all three Portrait workshops through our package deal and save big on registration fee.
