A complete six-week photography class for beginners to intermediate photographers

6 Week Bootcamp Program consists of six classroom sessions and two field trips for daytime and nighttime photography. All sessions include a mix of theory in the classroom and practical preparation.

Participants have opportunities for shooting photographs on field trips then reviewing and discussing their images with an instructor.

Introduction to photography, how digital cameras work, digital photography workflow basics, autofocus versus manual focus, digital image optimization

Part 2: Thursday, March 4, 2021

ISO, Understanding camera setting modes and exposure controls, intro to using the Histogram.

Part 3: Thursday, March 11, 2021

Metering systems, reading a Histogram, using manual mode, White Balance.

Part 4: Thursday, March 18, 2021

Creative uses for aperture and shutter, depth of field and motion. Selective focus/shallow depth of field workshop.

Part 5: Thursday, March 25, 2021

Composition guidelines – rule of thirds, texture, colour, point of view and seeing in shapes and forms, and Macro Photography guideline.

Part 6: Saturday, March 27, 2021 (Field Trip)

Photo Field Trip (three hours of outdoor photography with instructor). Practical exercises and refining composition and camera control. (Location to be announced)

Part 7: Thursday, April 8, 2021

Review field trip images and Night Scene Photography guidelines.

Part 8: Friday, April 9, 2021 (Night Field Trip)

Nighttime photography field trip to wrap up the Bootcamp. In this final class, you learn how to control your camera fully manually.
