LIGHTROOM GRADUATED FILTER

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

Lightroom Graduated Filter is the Omnipotent Engine!

Lightroom Graduated Filter is one of the most powerful tools and provides vast local adjustment options. There are many known uses for this filter. However, there are many hidden techniques too.

For this Thursday’s Ted’s Editing Tip, I review the Graduated Filter and showcase one of the many hidden features.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”23619″ img_size=”600×400″ add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_rounded” onclick=”link_image” css_animation=”fadeIn” title=”Lightroom Graduated Filter”][vc_column_text]

The Lightroom Graduated Filter Tool

The Lightroom Graduated Filter, like other local adjustments tools, offers all sorts of retouching. For instance, you can darken the sky gradually to expand the dynamic range of the picture. Or you can apply a specific colour tone that slowly fades away throughout the image.

One obvious use of the Lightroom Graduated filter is to apply a gradual ND effect to the images. In the above photo, I used Graduated Filter to darken the sky and expand the Dynamic Range. [/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]

A Hidden Gem

In the sample photos below, I used a Graduated Filter to reduced the Sharpness and the Texture to blurred out the background gradually. Then, I used the Eraser tool to erase the main subjects. The effect simulated the shallow depth of field in the picture.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”26103″ img_size=”600×600″ add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_rounded” onclick=”link_image” css_animation=”fadeIn” title=”Original Photo”][vc_single_image image=”26104″ img_size=”600×600″ add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_rounded” onclick=”link_image” css_animation=”fadeIn” title=”Using Lightroom Graduated Filter”][vc_column_text]We offer Private Classes in photography, Photoshop, and Lightroom.
