A Tip on Photography in Snow

It is Wintertime, and there are lots of things to do around the house and office, but nothing beats a vacation! Therefore, our office is closed for Winter vacation from January 20th to Tuesday, January 28th. As I am getting ready for my holiday, let me show you a quick tip for “Photography in Snow.”

Photography in Snow

Snow is so bright and reflective. Therefore, the reflection of light can quickly force the camera to underexpose the photos.

How to avoid underexposed photos while photographing in the snow?

There are many different ways to avoid underexposed images. In this article, I am going to cover two Effective methods:

Using Spot Metering

If your camera has Spot metering mode, then you are lucky. Therefore, switch to spot metering mode and meter for your subject. By using Spot metering, you force the camera to read the exposure just for the item.

Exposure Compensation

On the other note, many cameras may not have the Spot metering mode. Whereas almost all cameras have the Exposure Compensation mode.

Just set the Exposure Compensation to +1, and you are ready to rock!

By setting the Exposure Compensation, you force the camera to shoot all the photos one stop brighter. Therefore, effortlessly you override the underexposed issue. Here are a few examples for you.
