Quick Photography Tip: UNDERSTANDING COLOURS

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

Understanding Colours is Not That Hard!

Colours are essential elements in visual arts, especially in photography. So, understanding colours is a necessary part of learning photography.

Basic Colour theory might be too intimidating for new photographers. Hence, the primary colour schemes are the central part of our photo editing workshops.

Many technical terms in Colours may sound too complicated. Phrases like; HUE, Saturation, Tone, Tint Shades…[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”26710″ img_size=”600×600″ add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_rounded” onclick=”link_image” css_animation=”fadeIn” title=”Understanding Colours”][vc_column_text]Recently I came across an easy-to-understand article by Adobe, which describes the Colour theory in depth.

.

Here is an excerpt for you:

1- RGB is based around three colours — red, green, and blue — and serves as the basis for all digital colours used on screen.

.

2- CMYK, also known as process colour, stands for cyan, magenta, yellow, and key (black) — the four pigment hues used in photomechanical printing.

.

3- Hue refers to the predominant colour in a family of colour values. A tint is a hue that has had white added to it, while tone refers to a hue that has been mixed with gray. Adding black to a hue darkens it to a shade.

.

4- Saturation refers to how vivid a colour appears. High saturation describes a strong or vibrant colour. Low saturation describes a mild or soft colour.

5- Desaturation indicates a colour that is dulled or absent of saturation.
