Using Negative Space in Photography

Negative space is a term that photographers use a lot. In visual art, the negative space plays a significant role in creating dynamic images. [/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”20873″ img_size=”600×400″ add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_rounded” onclick=”link_image” css_animation=”fadeIn” title=”The Negative Space”][vc_column_text]

What is negative space photography?

Negative space photography is related to minimalist photography. It emphasizes the subject and the empty space around the subject. The viewer’s eyes may be drawn to a central figure, but they can’t help noticing the large section of emptiness that surrounds and defines that figure. The vacancy in surroundings gives definition and emphasis to the subject.

Here are a few tips on using the Negative space in your works:

A COMPLETE STORY

The negative space provides the image of where the object is. Therefore, your viewers look into a complete story.

EMPHASIZING THE IMPORTANCE OF THE OBJECT

When the subject is within the negative space, the viewer’s mind automatically pays more attention to the main object.[/vc_column_text][vc_single_image image=”23212″ img_size=”600×400″ add_caption=”yes” alignment=”center” style=”vc_box_rounded” onclick=”link_image” css_animation=”fadeIn” title=”The Negative Space”][vc_column_text]
