Photo Tip Friday October 25

The Magical Power of Photoshop Layers!

Did you know that Photoshop is not a non-destructive software? What does that mean to you?

That means, if you do not have the right workflow, you can make irreversible changes to your original image. Stay tuned for our upcoming Photoshop Editing Bootcamp  to learn more about workflow in Photoshop.

In this tip I am going to show you How to remove the background  safely by using Layers and Masking.

Removing Background in Photoshop

1-Open a new document and select the Width, Hight, and Resolution. In this example I selected light blue colour for the background.

6-By using the sliders you can make your selection more precise and then press OK

7-As you can see the selection is not perfect yet. Here comes the best part of this photo tip. Since you created the layer mask for your foreground image, now you can select the mask by double clicking on it and start to add or subtract from your image by using the Paint Brush tool. Choose white colour to brush in more of your selection and choose black to brush out (erase) from your selection

8-By selecting the Paint Brush Tool and Back colour I can remove the unwanted areas very precisely

9-So by using these steps I can always go back to the Layer and modify it as I want. Job is done!
