Adding Persons or Objects Using Photoshop

Adding objects to photos is probably the most widespread use in digital photography. For instance, you may want to add a person to a group shot or a different background.
Photoshop makes it easy to add an object to images. Here is a tip.

1 MINUTE PHOTOSHOP TIP: Adding Object in Photoshop

  • Open both photos in Photoshop.
  • Use the “Select Subject” tool to select the object you want to move.
  •  Click on the “Select and Mask” tool to modify the mask. ( I usually add the Smooth and Contrast to the selection.)
  • Create a New Layer from the selection.
  • Select the Move tool, click on the object and hold, then drag and drop it to the background image.
  • Adjust the position and the size of the object to match the scene.
  • If you need to add a shadow, create an empty layer, use the Brush tool, sample the shadow colour and brush the shadow. Use Filter>Blur>Gaussian Blur to blur the shadow.
  • All Done ?
