How to Use the Lightroom Denoise Effectively
Adobe recently added the AI Denoise to the Lightroom and Camera Raw Filter. In this article, I discuss using the Lightroom Denoise correctly to get the best possible result.
Lightroom Denoise is a Powerful Tool
Lightroom has had a built-in Noise Reduction function for years, which was less efficient than other third-party plugins.
Recently, Adobe added the new Denoise feature to Lightroom and Camera Raw filter. So far, this feature works only in Raw images. I hope Adobe will extend this power to other formats, such as JPG, in the future. Here are tips on how to use the Lightroom Denoise to its potential:
1- Lightroom Denoise works only on Raw images.
2- Adjust the Basics (Exposure, Contrast, Highlights, Shadows, Whites, and Blacks. Also, you can adjust the Saturation and Vibrance.)

3- Adjust the Texture and Clarity. I usually change the Dehaze at this point. I will come back and visit the Dehaze after applying the Denoise.
4- Locate the Denoise button under the Detail tab and apply the Denoise.
5- Lightroom creates a new DNG file of the image and applies the Denoise to the new file. At this point, I usually delete the original file as I don’t want to keep the noisy photos as they take lots of hard drive space.
6- Revisit the Dehaze slider to apply it to your liking.
After Applying the Denoise
7- If you want to make any local adjustments (Masking), it is time to create masks and apply the adjustment.
